Poem: IMAGES FROM STORM

Image (c) 2007, Karla Dorman.

Thunder and lightning,
wind, rain and hail come
alive in poems
and in photographs:

Images from Storm.

Beautiful Lies--poem

It was such a beautiful lie

Why did it end

The Truth is painful and ugly

Why did you let me see it

All the truth in my life

is always what i hated

Keep telling me these beautiful lies

let me hide from my fantasies

cover the world with black roses

dark mysterious and beautiful

let me drown in the clouds

and breathe in your lies

make me believe you are

truthful by lying to my heart

let my body crave your… Continue

This blog contains selected dribblets of Boots Dorfman's own finestkind O-Negative. For the whole wretched story of his odds-bodkins life, order Boots' slender volume of verse, Existential Mad Dog Blues, the True Stories, Songs and Screeds of a Great American Loser by Boots Dorfman. It is available from PublishAmerica, but hey, it's still a pretty good book, so try it, you'll like it!

From Me To You: Christmas, 2007

"Friends" is a word

as gentle as lovers holding hands,

as welcome as a gift on Christmas,

as inviting as flames in the fireplace ...

you warm my heart.

I'm glad you're mine.

So, in this Season of peace and love,

I reach out in gratitude and pray that

you have a wonderous Christmas and

Happy New Year.

POEM: Hissisity

Image (c) 2006, Karla Dorman

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HISSISITY
... The sky puffed out in a hissy fit
of monumental ... h i s s i s i t y.
It chased its tail from one horizon
to the other and back again, bared
its teeth in wind and rain ... never heard
her growl like that - sounded like thunder.
Lightning sparked from her eyes as she tore
around the room - the sweet… Continue
POEM: IT DOES SOMETHING TO YOU
Image (c) Karla Dorman
IT DOES SOMETHING TO YOU
Living through disaster
bumps the impossible
a little bit closer.
It does something to you;
brings the alligator
so near it embraces
you in claustrophobic
teeth that won't. Let. Go, the
next time a storm comes near.
Fear changes you, somehow ...
it makes you face things you
don't want to think about:
like your mortality.
