What Was Your Scariest Storm Experience? How Has It Affected You, If At All?

IMAGE (c) KARLA DORMAN

I'll start: Have always been afraid of storms. Ever since I was little. Felt safe, though, because we had a basement (in Ohio). Was in one tornado, but not bad.

Moved to Texas 24 years ago, where they don't HAVE shelters available.

I've been in three tornadoes since coming here. '83, '96, '07. Lost my roof in the '96 storm. January 17, 9:45 AT NIGHT. JANUARY!!!! There aren't supposed to BE any tornadoes in Winter.

But this is Texas: severe weather season can be any time of the year.

NICE.

If that doesn't put the fear into you, nothing will...especially when the meteorologists say, "A tornado warning is now in effect. Go to your basement or underground shelter..." and I'm like WHAT??!????

Hi Karla,
Your site here is awsom, thank you so much for having me. I am going to upload you some pictures in order of the f-5 tornado of 99 as my son and his group chased . You got to do the weather on T.V. That is just to awsom. My son wanted to be a meteorologist also but life does not always cooporate with us on what we want so he setteled for deputy shirff and has chased since 97. He loves the thrill and I still cringe and worry everytime they do it. LOL. I will get back as soon as possible and upload the pics for you. Thanks again for the invite you have really did a wonderful job here.
