POEM: TEXAS, MY TEXAS

TEXAS, MY TEXAS
They say everything's bigger in
Texas. Believe it: when the skies
stretch out forever; when lightning
does a do-si-do and a loop
from one horizon to the next,
when Panhandle storms are seen from
miles away, when hearts expand to
welcome one and all to the Lone
Star State, makes me proud to be here.
